A running list of restaurants and bars that have adopted pandemic new safety policies in light of the highly transmissible delta variant
Chicago has not instituted a new mask mandate (the city is recommending that everyone mask up indoors, regardless of vaccination status). However, a notable rise in COVID-19 cases related to the highly transmissible delta variant has prompted a growing group of bar and restaurant operators to implement their own vaccine requirements for patrons.
City officials are recommending masks or facial covering for everyone passing through indoor public places. It remains to be seen if they will follow New York City’s lead and require all diners to show proof of vaccination to eat indoors. Many restaurants and bar owners are contemplating a move, but waiting to see data and how their peers react.
