The Oprah Winfrey Show will be kicking off its 24th season by shutting down Michigan Avenue for 53 hours.
“The doors open at noon Sept. 8 for the 5 p.m. taping, and no overnight camping will be permitted. According to a Harpo Studios press release, the City of Chicago expects to close Michigan Avenue between Wacker Drive and Ohio Street at 12:01 a.m. Sept. 7 until 5 a.m. Sept. 9!
After reading the release, I was curious about who would be paying the bill for the city’s expenses. Would I, a taxpayer, end up footing this big party that I likely will not attend?” [Curt Wagner]
Good question Curt, who did do some digging to reveal that Oprah and sponsors would be footing the bill.
I don’t much care for Oprah, but The Black Eyed Peas will be performing and I like them. So yea, I might consider joining the crowd for the musical performance.
The combination of Oprah and The Black Eyed Peas should make Michigan Avenue a complete cluster f***.
What do you think? Will you be joining the masses to check out Oprah and/or The Black Eyed Peas?
