CHICAGO (CBS) — Chicago firefighters are working to free a Water Department worker who got trapped in a hole Wednesday afternoon in the South Shore neighborhood.

A Chicago Fire Department spokesperson said crews were using a vacuum and other tools to remove water, dirt, and other debris from the hole near 67th and East End Avenue, after the worker got stuck in the muddy hole.

According to unconfirmed dispatch reports, the worker was helping install a hydrant when she got stuck in the hole

A Fire Department spokesperson said the worker was in good spirits as crews worked to get her free.
