Archivists from CPL Special Collections and the Vivian G. Harsh Research Collection use archival artifacts and documents to discuss the history of the Morgan Park and Washington Heights neighborhoods. Special Collections will cover the early story of Morgan Park’s annexation to the city of Chicago, a process that is discussed and debated in Bedrock Faith. Harsh will bring the story to more recent times, highlighting the Morgan Park Co-op Credit Union (the oldest African American credit union in Chicago) and the Washington Heights Community Organization (formed in 1966 for the upkeep and economic development and growth of the area).

Tune in for a special series of videos featuring archival material related to Chicago’s neighborhoods. CPL archivists and librarians showcase secrets and treasures from the archives that highlight our city’s history.
