Kane County is in the midst of a spike in gun violence, according to a proclamation approved by the county board Tuesday that retroactively recognized the first Friday in June as National Gun Violence Awareness Day. The county had 31 gun deaths in 2020. The proclamation calls on keeping guns away from “people with precarious histories” as going hand-in-hand with the Second Amendment.
