CHICAGO – While there might not be warmth in the air early this May at Wrigley Field, love is certainly there when it comes to the Cubs.

Two players on the team, Ian Happy and Justin Steele, got engaged this week as the team starts a five-game homestand against the crosstown White Sox and the Dodgers.

Happ was the first to announce his engagement to his girlfriend Julie Mazur on his Instagram account on Monday.

“The best is yet to come,” said Happ on his account after the post that featured his proposal pictures.

Steele’s announcement came on Tuesday as he also posted a picture of his engagement to Libby Murphy on Instagram.

“They say nothing last forever. But they haven’t seen us together. Forever and Always. This life and the next. I’ll always find you,” said Steele about the engagement on the social media site.

Happ is entering his sixth season as a member of the Cubs after he was drafted by the club in the first round of the 2015 MLB Draft. In 22 games in 2022, he’s hitting .304/.424/.435 with three doubles, two homers, and 11 RBI.

Steele is entering his second season with the Cubs at the major league level and is currently 1-3 with a 5.50 ERA in five starts in 2022.

Currently, the Cubs are 9-14 on the season after losing to the White Sox 3-1 on Tuesday evening at Wrigley Field to begin the two-game City Series. The second game of the series is Wednesday night with a three-game series with Los Angeles starting on Friday.
