The Adler Planetarium is launching a new event tonight called Adler After Dark. It will happen every Thursday, but since tonight is the launch, you can get in for free.
The whole concept of this is really neat. Open the planetarium up during hours when it’s usually closed, make it a 21+ event, and let people get a little loose. Cocktails and appetizers will be served, which are two great things to have on hand while you enjoy the award winning view of Chicago’s skyline. Not only that, but the Adler After Dark is the only time to check out the Doane Observatory telescope for yourself. It’s the largest public telescope in the Midwest and I’m told that you can see Jupiter’s red spot or Saturn’s rings if you are so inclined.
There will also be a DJ, a chance to win United Airlines tickets, and trivia. You can bare your skin in front of their special UV camera to test out what kind of condition your skin is in, although if you were here this summer I think you’re pretty safe. But check it anyway, check out their space shuttle heat tiles and see what that can withstand. Check it all out. It’s free and interesting, and could be a wonderful place to take a date.
